I'm Arief (arabic: عارف, pronounced [ah-r-ee-f]), an Indonesian living in Canada. I'm a husband and a father of two amazing boys.
I'm passionate about making lives more exciting and efficient using technology, e.g., artificial intelligence. I strongly believe that man and machine working together will make a better decision than a man or a machine independently.
I currently work as a Senior Artificial Intelligence Specialist at General Motors Canada. My daily lives involve designing state-of-the-art AI solutions that work in real lives and have significant business impact on innovation activities and operational efficiency at GM.
My current and previous work showcases a broad spectrum of my AI knowledge and experience. From hardware to software, computer vision to natural language processing, and theory to practical solutions.
I received my PhD from the Centre for Pattern Analysis & Machine Intelligence, University of Waterloo, Canada, for my dissertation on Large-Scale Time Series Prediction using Deep Learning. During the course of my PhD, I worked on plenty side projects, one of them has been featured in local and global news outlets.
